Adorno is pleased to announce the launch of “1 + 1 = 3”, a collection created in collaboration with Southern Sweden Design Days showcasing a selection of new work from ten designers and studios in the event’s inaugural year. Organised by Form/Design Center, the annual event held in Malmö, Sweden, highlights sustainability, collaboration, development, and innovation in design. This year’s theme, as described by the event organisers, “encourages collaborations and cross-fertilisation with the aim of highlighting the region’s openness and locality”.
This colourful collection does just that, featuring a range of work – in glass, ceramic, stone, wood, and reclaimed materials – which has been developed collaboratively, reflects on sustainability through locally available materials, and focuses on small-scale production. Together, they present a vision of this unique aspect of the larger Swedish design scene.
“For this collection, we have replicated the main venue of SSDD in 3D, inviting our international audience inside ‘Lokstallarna’, to get the feeling of the Pavillion and to explore the work of these outstanding material conscious designers in a real-time 3D experience.”
– Martin Clausen, Co-Founder & Creative Director, Adorno
In addition to the collection of pieces exhibited inside the “Swedish Pavilion”, a 150-square-meter wooden structure designed by Forstberg Ling, the exhibition presented both virtually and physically in the old railway workshop will include an art installation “New Angels” by Jeanette Gostomski and curtains by ZigZagZurich, especially commissioned for this year’s event.
