Description

“Ucayalí” began as a traditional vase, evolving through deliberate disruptions to create a visual language of deformations and rebirths. These organic alterations are designed to evoke a visceral connection with the flesh—matter as skin—encapsulating fragility and resilience through ruptures and fractures. These elements establish an infinity of interconnections that transcend the limits of perception.

In a world drawn to perfection, “Ucayalí” celebrates the transformative power of disruption and the inherent beauty found in imperfection. The stoneware sculpture highlights the intricate dance between vulnerability and strength, inviting viewers to explore the delicate balance within. An invitation to observe what happens within.

About Vale Ro Visit Showroom →

Valeria Rodriguez is a Peruvian multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. Her practice is rooted in the exploration of intuitive organic forms inspired by patterns and inclinations observed in the natural world. Growing up amid the immense beauty of the Amazon deeply shaped her artistic vision, sparking a lasting fascination with the hidden structures that connect all forms of life.Through drawing, painting, and sculpture, she brings to life the stories embedded within natural forms, crafting intentional objects that convey organic sensations and evoke a sense of movement and interconnectivity. Her work challenges the tendency to overlook the profound ties between beings—human and non-human alike—shifting focus from surface appearance to deeper meaning and presence. Each piece created at Vale Ro serves as a portal into the unseen dimensions of existence, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexity and beauty of the world around and within us.
