Super Superficial by Laura Kjær Studio bridges the gap between furniture design and art. With its bold colors and ornamentation, the chair commands attention and invites its users to do the same. By combining traditional marquetry techniques with modern laser-cutting technology, Laura Kjær explores the potential of surfaces as tools for empowerment and transformation.
As highlighted by the Financial Times, Laura is part of a new generation of Swedish furniture designers who challenge conventions through experimental creations. Her Super Superficial chair, showcased at Ung Svensk Form, draws inspiration from the vibrant energy of 1990s rave culture and the rich tradition of folk art. The result is a playful, maximalist design that transforms the simple act of sitting into an immersive adventure.
The chair earned Laura Kjær Kvadrat’s Scholarship, which led to her solo exhibition at Kvadrat’s Stockholm showroom—a testament to her visionary craftsmanship.
