Stacked pieces are built automatically by using or creating parts, scraps, found objects. Each upcycled piece is created according to this principle: all parts are assembled unassembled. A photo session is set up, with a background and two lights. The session starts. At a rapid pace, piles are built, then an image is made. Every 3 minutes, a new piece must be made. The session lasts 40 minutes. At the end of the session, photos are kept. A few days later, I look at the photos then I keep my favorites and finally put them together. This method is another attempt to find new ways to design by letting subconscious actions do the work, leaving aside ego, doubt and calculation. The part name reflects this moment and is labeled Month-Year-Order in the session.
Assembled pieces with traditional handcut joinery. Carved by hand, hand turned, hand painted and lacquered.
