Description

Sound System 1 is a piece that forms part of the collection SS by Lucas Muñoz. The reclaimed plywood originates from the 2018 Logroño Concéntrico Festival installation, Subterránea, which was a skate ramp that featured a sound system. After the festival period, it was dismantled and brought to the atelier to create the Sound System 1.

The following are details of the sound system; 2500w of power divided in three channels, two speakers per channel to fill up all the highs, mediums and low frequencies with detail.

The cabinets made of poplar plywood are coated with a water based varnish. The cabinets are also held together with heat blackened screws. The interior acoustic is made of 100% recycled textile geopanel. Nothing in these compartments are glued.

About the designer

Lucas has been making and producing since his early twenties. He founded eStudio enPieza! in Madrid, with David Tamame. His work there traveled the world and became part of private and public design collections (as London´s Royal Science Museum permanent founds ). Now, since 2012, works on his own from the Netherlands. Crafting pieces that take a personal look to our artificial environment. Using tools as humour and rawness, his body of work includes a wide range of typologies that span from boats and speakers to chairs and lamps. In addition to being a workshop maker, he also develops conceptual and critical work based on local and context-driven research.
