Pivot begins with the idea that balance is not a fixed state, but a delicate relationship between opposing forces.
Within the composition, the same cylindrical geometry takes on two distinct attitudes. One rests horizontally, close to the ground, embodying weight; the other rises to form a vertical axis. A slender connection brings these opposing movements together along a single line.
Similar in form yet drawn in different directions, the two volumes give the object a sense of balance that seems almost suspended. Its sculptural character emerges here: weight and lightness, horizontal and vertical, stillness and movement complement one another within a single composition.
When a candle is placed, a third, temporary element enters this relationship. The flame is the only constantly moving element against the metal’s precise geometry; light and shadow redefine the form from one moment to the next.
In this way, Pivot fulfils its function without being reduced to it. It makes balance visible not as a shape, but as a tension.
