The Oro Snake by Nina Coimbra is a sculptural object that is a woven piece that can be placed on tables or hung on walls. It is a homage to Oxumare entity that is reveranced in African Brazilian religions and is depicted as a snake or a rainbow.

Nina Coimbra is a Brazilian artist, based in Brasília DF. Born in 1984, her formative years were spent living in different countries due to her father being a Brazilian diplomat. The possibility of living in a variety of countries shaped her esthetic perceptions of the world in all of its’ plural shapes and expressions in form. Her studies were centered in visual arts as well as art restoration and conservation, giving her ample possibilities in her explorations on materiality and technique. Nina is interested in the stories objects tell and their secret life, and her work as an artist and designer is focused on the “re-enchantment” of the objects that have lost their “aura” due to consumerism and mass production in contemporary society.
