Description

The Lean series was made with glass pipes and recycled ABS pellets that were exposed to air and discarded for 3D printing. By fumigating in an enclosed environment with acetone using the properties of ABS materials, pellets became entangled and melted together, expressing a unique shape and texture. This completed a new aesthetic by visually contrasting with the transparent and clean surface of the glass. The vase can be used as a vase, and the tangled pellets balance the glass pipe so it does not fall.

The items in the Lean series are uniquely handmade and should be handled with the utmost care.
Especially, be careful not to bump into the protruding texture.

Donghoon,Sohn is a Founder / Designer of Atelier SOHN. He understand the properties of objects and identify their variables based on observations of the materials and forms around us and after that define the areas in which designers can intervene. Through this approach to finding points of contact between designer thinking and properties of objects presents works of pursuing sensory transition by newly defining the making process. He graduated Korea national university of arts (K`arts) and took Samsung design membership for 2 years (2009 - 2010). Then he started his professional career at Samsung Electronics Headquarter (2010 - 2016). At Samsung, he worked on product design and user experience design through various projects such as laptop, wearable device and smart phone. Also, he won several international awards like IF award, red dot award and Pin up design award. At the same time, He has worked for Atelier SOHN (2017 - Present). He received attentions of various medias as a rising designer through exhibition at Milan design week and Paris design week. He graduated Ecal / University of art and design in Lausanne (2016 - 2017). Until now, He has successfully collaborated with global luxury brands such as Bottega Veneta, Vacheron constantin, Rimowa, Christofle, Chopard and Hotel Trois Couronnes. He not only has successful stories in IT industry but also proves his worth in art direction, objet and collaboration project in living industry and luxury brand.
