    The Lazarus Chair by Romain Basile Petrot is a minimalist and contemporary homage to the historical “crapaud” chair, a design from the Roman era that has existed since antiquity, both in domestic settings and in grand, majestic forms, as seen in the sculpted ivory throne of Maximian from the 6th century. Crafted from brushed aluminum, this chair draws inspiration from religious seatings, featuring faceting details that create captivating light effects, evoking sacred spaces’ vertical and serene atmosphere. The elegant olive green leather cushion contrasts the bold design, adding a touch of comfort to the piece.

    Romain Basile Petrot (1995) is an independent designer and architect based in Paris, working across both spatial and object design. A graduate in Architecture with training at the prestigious Studio KO, he has since established his own creative practice, focusing on various projects that reflect his keen understanding of form, composition, and materiality. His approach centers on material experimentation, driven by a sensitive, narrative-based design process. He views his objects as architecture, as buildings in which invisible forces are at play and shape radical geometries.
