Inspired by the futuristic backdrop of skyscrapers & neon billboards of Hong Kong – the location of our home studio, the ‘Lattice+’ floor lamps are sculptural floor lamps created using a 3D latticing technique unique to additive manufacturing technology.
Layer by layer, the 3D-lattice structure is printed in an industrial-sized additive manufacturing FDM machine with a technique that utilizes a minimal amount of filament material necessary to create a rigid structure while avoiding the laborious process required to put it together by hand and complex tooling. Each meter-tall structure takes around one week, with automated 3d-printing 24 hours a day. Using polylactic acid (PLA) thermoplastic filaments derived from renewable organic sources, the decorative design is balanced with structural integrity & lightweight to push the limits of materiality; the intricate structure is lit up by energy-efficient LED tubes, emitting a futuristic glow.
