Description

Textile art piece / fashion artefact, co-created by French street artist Jules Dedet, most known as L’ATLAS, and Peruvian artisan Vilma Fresia. Knitted by hand with alpaca fibre.
This product is crafted with care and mastery by one woman, alpaca herder and artisan from the Andean highlands in southern Peru. She uses the precious yarn from her own animals and the whole realization process is done by hand and with heart, from the spinning, to the dyeing, and knitting. She also introduces her personal stamp on the design. Please take note that this artisanal procedure could generate small alterations, making your piece unique.

About Las Manuelas Visit Showroom →

Las Manuelas is a creative community without barriers, a collective commitment, a platform to promote the connection and horizontal collaboration between Peruvian alpaca artisans with artists, designers, art directors, curators and creative minds from all over the world. The Las Manuelas artisans live in the remote Andean region of southern Peru, at more than 4,000 meters high, where cold and pure air blows and where they raise their endearing alpacas. Masters of knitting, they create unique textiles with love and precision, using the pure and natural alpaca wool from their own animals. A luxurious fibre that is spun, dyed and knitted by hand with heart and that gives birth to extraordinary pieces. The whole process of realization is made by one woman and is traceable until the animal. Since 2012 we have elaborated limited editions in collaboration with international artists that make each collection different and unique. We love to experiment and cross the boundaries of disciplines, from fashion to home, … to art. Las Manuelas Art Series is our latest project. A unique mission carried out in collaboration with 11 international artists: SOLOMOSTRY, Italy, SatOne, Venezuela, SEIKON, Poland, Zebu, Germany, HuskMitNavn, Denmark, Broken Fingaz, Israel, Bicicleta Sem Freio, Brazil, L’ATLAS, France, REVOK, USA, RekaOne, Australia, Lakwena, UK. Curated by David Lapof. Las Manuelas creates beautiful, sustainable as well as multifunctional textile pieces. Special thanks to IED - Istituto Europeo di Design for the continuous support to the Las Manuelas project.
