The knitted chair is part of a debut body of work by Curtis Bloxsidge that infuses knit textures (by 2 AM Close) with minimalist jarrah timber forms.
This piece encapsulates the experiment between these two mediums. Through classical wood working knowledge, hand-shaped timber forms are wrapped in knit, using an organic laddering technique and traditional tailoring methods, to prompt associations of land surfaces, DNA, and mycelium. This piece expresses itself through a relatable, somewhat characterised body for the home.
Due to the organic laddering technique, no knitted piece is the same.
