The knitted chair is part of a debut body of work by Curtis Bloxsidge that infuses knit textures (by 2 AM Close) with minimalist jarrah timber forms.
Encapsulating the experiment between these two mediums, hand-shaped forms are wrapped in knit using traditional tailoring techniques, subtly referencing the circularity of life – land surfaces, mycelium and DNA. These assert an appeared delicacy to the piece, which is in turn held down by the weight of the chair’s profile.
Due to organic laddering technique, no knitted piece is the same.
