The series I SEE YOU GROW by Laura Kjaer Studio is not just a collection of stools but a celebration of circularity, craftsmanship, and personal expression.
The stool, made from Kvadrat Really’s Textile Board, is a harmonious blend of aesthetics and function, adorned with intricate designs, using Danish maple veneer treated with locally produced linseed oil from Haderslev. Kvadrat Really Textile Board was chosen for its circularity and durability. With 40% greater density than traditional MDF, it offers a tactile experience that merges functionality with aesthetic appeal. This balance is not only crucial for long-lasting furniture but also enhances the sensory interaction between people and the objects they use daily.
This project is deeply personal to me; it was conceived during a significant time in my life — becoming a mother. This experience brought new meaning to concepts like joy and play, inspiring me to design a universe where my son could grow up surrounded by furniture that is not only functional but aesthetically joyful.
Through I SEE YOU GROW, I challenge the conventional notions of ornamentation, which are often seen as superficial. Instead, I reintroduce it as a meaningful element of design that evokes emotion and enriches our interactions with the spaces we inhabit.
