Description

This sculptural black clay bowl by CERAMIC 47 is a study of contrasts, balance, and the interplay of strength and vulnerability. The stoneware black clay forms a robust, grounding foundation, exuding a bold, earthy presence that symbolizes stability and resilience. Embedded within this solid base is a single, delicately crafted piece of porcelain, painted and glazed with meticulous intent.

Though small and seemingly fragile, the porcelain element introduces a poignant sense of vulnerability, becoming an emotional focal point of the piece. Its placement is not arbitrary; it plays a critical role in maintaining the bowl’s equilibrium, emphasizing the interdependence of fragility and strength.

The porcelain’s glossy, light-reflective surface creates a dynamic contrast against the matte texture of the black clay. This juxtaposition highlights the harmony between grounded solidity and ethereal delicacy, underscoring the tension and unity that defines the sculpture. The Sculptural Black Clay Bowl is a visual meditation on the balance of opposites, inviting viewers to contemplate the resilience born from interconnectedness.

This bowl is suitable for food use and can hold water.

"Working with clay feels like a conversation with nature itself. Every piece I design starts with an idea but evolves as I pour my emotions into it. Through ceramics, I find a way to express what words can’t, letting my hands shape the stories within me. It’s a deeply personal connection—a harmony of earth, creativity, and soul." Faye Papargyropoulou, born in Athens on February 21, 1974, is a ceramic artist and designer based in Athens. Since 1992, when she began her studies in art & design with a scholarship in industrial design, she has been exploring the connection between creativity, functionality, and artistic expression. With over 20 years of experience as a creative director at leading advertising agencies, she was responsible for the image and communication of major Greek and international brands, defining their branding and creative strategy. At the same time, she applied her artistic ideas to personal projects in fashion and interior design. In 2006, she founded her own creative agency, ABOUT: CREATIVE AGENCY, specializing in design, branding, and projects related to fashion and interior design. In 2020, she took the next step in her creative journey by establishing her ceramic studio, CERAMIC 47. Based in Athens, CERAMIC 47 is her personal space for artistic expression, where Faye creates unique ceramic works that highlight the beauty of imperfection and challenge traditional notions of form and functionality. Her first complete collection, Migrated Forms, expresses her love for fashion, drawing inspiration from fashion patterns. The ceramic works from this collection, unique and multidimensional, were first presented in Athens in February 2022. She later participated in several group exhibitions, including "L'ÉTÉ GREC." and “WOMEN CERAMIC ARTISTS OF GREECE” at the Moncoinstudio gallery. Today, Faye continues to evolve her ceramic art, focusing on creating unique pieces that explore the relationship between form, functionality, and expression. Through her work, she combines the past with the present, reflecting a deep appreciation for art, nature, and contemporary design.
