These little glass sculptures can be used as vases for wildflowers or as glassware for serving spirits and delicious food, berries, sauces, or oils.
While burning in a wooden mould, liquid hot glass captures the tiniest details of a momentary structure, resulting in a unique shape and surface of each piece. This sculptural series is inspired by the form-making of nature and created by mastering the material and synergy of natural forces, elements of air and fire, noble materials of wood and glass.
Hand-crafted in Finland.
The wooden mould changes continuously during the glass-blowing process and eventually burns down. A sequence number is assigned to each piece, and due to the design and the technique, each object is one of a kind, as if it would be grown from the earth, and its shape, texture, dimensions, and weight may differ from the illustrating pictures. Moulds for glassblowing are made out of local timber consciously selected by the artist to achieve a variety of structures.
Material: glass (lead-free crystal). Mould making, hot work, cold work: by the artist herself. Hot work, mouth blowing into a wooden mould: by the glass master.
