The Lamp is a part of The Deskscape, a four-piece collection of modular desktop objects by A* alittlemore studio, that invite play.
The Deskscape Lamp is a minimalist take on what a traditional camel-skin lamp can look like when merged with industrial grade materials. The boxy nature of the body is contrasted with sinuous arches that perforate the sides, creating different juxtapositions of light and shadow when oriented on a surface. The top surface of the lamp dips into a small bowl for trinkets so that the real estate taken up by the lamp on your desk is not lost. An orb-like globe is highlighted as the star of the piece, a camel skin shade in a raw natural finish. This, held in place by the reflective bright metal of the body, creates a futuristic formal language that subverts the traditional camel-skin lamps you can find in any Pakistani Handicrafts store. The Lamp comes in four color finishes and one limited edition run with a custom painted camel-skin shade.
About the collection:
The Deskscape is a series of objects by alittlemore studio that explore the intersection of high quality artisan hewn materials with industrial mass production processes. The series is a study in craftsmanship and materiality, and brings into question what we consider as high-end. The bright colors of the powder coated steel juxtaposed with the warmth of natural materials like stone, clay leather and camel skin offset the tactile nature of the design objects, evoking a sense of discovery that the series navigates around. Whether stand-alone or as a part of a series, all Deskscape objects work together to add character to any surface and spark a conversation.
The collection includes The Lamp, The Organizer, The Candle Stand and The Vase.
Materials and Components:
The body is made of milled steel, the shade is crafted by hand in camel skin by artisans in Multan, Pakistan.
