Description

Unique piece fully handcrafted in brown stoneware by Terre brute. The surface is slightly textured with chamotte (calcined clay powder) and painted with white underglaze.
This sculptures was inspired by adder stone – naturally occurring stone with a hole through it. These stones have been found in many cultures and are associated with various myths and legends, have been used in many rituals as charms to bring luck and protection.

Terre Brute ( from the French 'raw clay') is a project created in 2021 by Anastasia Gladkova, a ceramic artists from Paris. Anastasia graduated with a Master's in Fine Arts at L’école supérieure d'arts et médias de Caen, France, in 2017. "Through Terre Brute, I embrace the fluidity and organic forms found in nature, exploring the harmonious fusion of abstract art and biomorphism. As an artist working mostly with stoneware clay, I am inspired by the inherent qualities of the material I work with. I express movement, as if my sculptures were frozen in a moment of transformation. I like to think of them as physical souvenirs of an evolving landscape ; hills rolling under the wind, ocean waves flowing in a rhythmic pattern, rocks weathering in a riverbed." Anastasia Gladkova
