Romain Basile Petrot (b. 1995, Paris) is an independent designer and architect based in Paris,
working across both spatial and object design. He established his own creative
practice in 2025, focusing on projects that reflect his keen understanding of form,
composition, and materiality.
He views his furniture pieces as architecture, as constructions in which invisible
forces are at play and shape radical geometries. His design process is always
attentive to detail and to the evocation of architectural notions.
Having lived in Athens and Marrakech for several years, his creations are deeply
influenced by local craftsmanship, and vernacular architecture, as well as by
personal memories, weaving fragments of place, atmosphere, and history into his
work. His approach centers on material experimentation, guided by a sensitive
process of narration. He consistently works with raw materials, exploring their
physical properties as a starting point to craft expressive objects infused with
abstraction.
Beyond design, his practice extends to interiors and architectural interventions,
where the same attention to structural clarity and material poetics unfolds on
a larger scale. Oscillating between austerity and sensuality, rigor and freedom,
his practice consistently seeks to create objects and spaces that resonate with a
profound sense of timelessness.
