Description

MORPHS is a family composed of five cubical objects. Each piece is of a different size and interacts with the impression of a sphere in different ways. Both the size of the cube and the sphere are morphing. The interaction between the cubes and the sphere is symbolic of the lasting impression humans leave on earth. The only difference is that we present an opposite scenario, where the sphere representing the earth has left a clear and lasting impression on objects in our daily life.

Sustainability and circularity are important aspects of the designs. We use bio-based composites in which cow-dung is the main ingredient. This material is available in large amounts around the world and is rather seen as waste instead of precious raw material.

Our pieces have a stony structure and resemble concrete and ceramics, but are lighter in weight. The production is handmade and no glazing is used. In this way, each piece can be reused as raw material after its intended usage period. All our pieces receive a thermal treatment during production. They are odor-free and safe for indoor use. We choose for simplicity and serenity, using basic shapes and giving space to the material characteristics.

The pieces can be used in different ways such as candle holders, key holders, etc. We encourage the imagination of users to determine the use according to their needs. We make art of natural materials to create joy in our daily life and leave a positive impression on our beloved planet

We offer Product design and development, Interior designs, User Interface & User Experience Design, Branding, Brand Strategy Design, and Systems Design as part of our services. Studio Lindey Cafsia is a design studio, based in the Netherlands, that focuses on combining bioinspired design with material research, sustainability, and wellbeing of users in autonomous product design and development. In 2019 we started a collaboration between both studios, in a project called Dungse, where we use cow dung as our base ingredient for research and development of new materials and products for different markets. Cow dung is a material that is extensively used in Indian culture for different purposes in daily life. Each material has a different look and feel and stimulates the senses in ways you would not expect. The Dungse project arose from the desire to develop our own material, which is beneficial to people and the environment. With a material as versatile as this is we really think that we will accomplish our vision. Our goal by participating in the exhibition is to introduce the world to our material and stimulate the imagination for all that is still possible with this material.
