Description

This object was imagined during a glass-making residency in France. Inspired by the flexibility and transparency of glass, the Curve Vase seeks to reveal the essence of this material.

By interacting with the molten glass, I sculpt the shape made by the glassblower. Its curves are the imprint of my action on the glass. I focus on the exploration of the material as a trigger for my imagination and approach the elaboration of my objects as sculptures in order to let myself be carried by my intuitions and the integration of a great deal of experimentation.

Blown glass vase – unique piece. Designed by Sophia Taillet.

About Sophia Taillet Visit Showroom →

Sophia Taillet is a designer, graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. She pays particular attention to the exploration of the material as a trigger of imagination and apprehends the elaboration of her objects as sculptures in order to let herself be carried by her intuitions and integrate a large part of experimentations. From steel to glass, his collections seek to reveal the intrinsic qualities of the material. Sophia Taillet has created a series of suspended furniture called "Le Temps Suspendu" for the Palais de Tokyo, and her flexible steel light Helik light will be exhibited at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2018. In 2019, through the Frac d'Auvergne, she was selected for a six-month residency in a glassmaking center in Yzeure, France. In total immersion, she creates a collection of glass furniture. A balance between organic form and the play of light, this collection was exhibited at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven and recently at the Collectible Fair in Brussels.
