Description

In Case Of Tears is a tissue box covered in natural goat parchment, transforming an everyday object through material and sculptural surface treatment. The relief is entirely designed and hand-carved, giving the object a distinctive texture shaped by the process of carving.

Subtle raised knobs and irregular linear formations evoke the appearance of healed tissue beneath the skin. The relief draws on associations with skin, anatomy and the rhythms of biological structures, without reproducing a specific organism. Its irregular pattern creates a varied surface in which each raised form and line contributes to the overall composition.

The natural parchment brings its own subtle variations in tone and texture, complementing the sculpted relief. Rather than serving as a simple covering, the material becomes an integral part of the object’s identity, connecting its tactile qualities with the anatomical references embedded in the design.

In Case Of Tears combines everyday function with a sculptural approach to a familiar domestic object. Its carefully developed surface invites closer observation, bringing together material, texture and the language of anatomy in a compact form.

About PALUCKI Studio Visit Showroom →

Mateusz Palucki is a Polish designer and artisan whose practice explores the intersection of collectible design, craftsmanship and the decorative arts. Based between Paris and Poland, he develops furniture, lighting and sculptural objects in his atelier, working alongside his brother Robert Palucki, an artisan specialising in woodworking, construction and lighting.More than a decade of working as an artisan in France has shaped Mateusz’s hands-on approach to creation, fostering an intimate understanding of materials, traditional techniques and the relationship between an idea and its physical realisation. His visual language draws on the elegance and material richness of Art Deco, the organic lines of Art Nouveau and the expressive possibilities of biomorphism. Nature serves as a constant source of inspiration, particularly its structural forms, animal anatomy and the balance between geometry and organic growth. The brothers’ work brings together sculptural silhouettes, tactile surfaces and contrasting materials. Solid oak, reclaimed and bog oak, ash, leather, shagreen and brass form part of their material vocabulary. Each is selected for its particular character, texture and expressive potential, allowing the material itself to contribute to the identity of each object.
