    Description

    “Pose” is not only a decorative sculpture, but it is also a low-tech hand warmer crafted from stoneware. If you place small candles underneath the dome, the flames will gently warm the material, allowing it to absorb and diffuse heat. By placing your hands around it, “Pose” releases a soft, lasting warmth, sustained by the clay’s natural insulating properties.
    Its matte, textured surface recalls the feeling of a sun-warmed stone—absorbing heat throughout the day and releasing it slowly as the air cools.

    “Pose” is designed and made in France.

    “Pose” is made by hand which means there are no two of a kind. You can choose your preferred stoneware color though a variety of choice and chamotte type, ranging from small grain to thick.

    About Marie-Marie Defour Visit Showroom →

    Marie-Marie Defour is an object, furniture, and space designer working between Lyon and Paris. She graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2018.Her practice explores the relationship between objects and their users, with a focus on openness and adaptability. She creates engaging, modular pieces that invite interpretation and encourage people to develop their own ways of using them.A strong sensitivity to materials, combined with an attention to their origin and transformation, lies at the heart of her approach.In 2019, she was finalist of the 14th International Design Festival at Villa Noailles, where she showcased three low-tech, heating objects. In 2024, she won the First Prize for the Cinna design prize. Since 2020, she has been teaching at STRATE School of Design, contributing to the future of design.
