This lamp is part of a new series born from my desire to return to forms I am particularly drawn to, after working on wall sconces. I wanted to explore them at a different scale, through a luminous object that is both sculptural and functional.
White stoneware has a dense, almost silent presence that I love. It captures light without the shine of porcelain, offering a soft, matte finish—slightly chalky, almost mineral.
On this base, I applied a drop-effect glaze: a glaze that does not fully cover, but allows the clay to breathe. It beads, flows, and then settles on the surface.
This contrast—between matte and glossy, raw and precious—is what I seek. A surface that is never fixed, that continues to shift with the light and the viewer’s perspective.
Working with stoneware at this scale also means accepting that the material evolves and transforms during firing. The initial design becomes an intention, never a certainty. What emerges is an organic form, slightly unpredictable, always unique.
Each piece is one of a kind, hand-shaped and hand-glazed in my studio. The hand-painted decoration may vary slightly from one piece to another.
