Oyster Series is all about decadence—not just in the obvious, luxurious sense, but in the way things change, erode, and become something new. I’ve always been fascinated by oysters: how they used to be everyday food for the poor, and now they’re one of the most exclusive things you can eat. That shift says so much about how we assign value to things.
There’s also something really beautiful about the oyster itself. The shell is rough, odd, even a bit ugly—but crack it open and inside there’s this smooth, glowing mother-of-pearl. That contrast is everything to me. It feels like a metaphor for hidden beauty, for how something raw and strange can still be precious.
And of course, pearls. These perfect, delicate things, created inside something so unlikely. That feels like magic—and like a quiet form of transformation. With Oyster Series, I’m trying to capture all of that: the indulgence, the contradictions, the slow alchemy of nature turning grit into treasure.
