Description

The Momento Collection by Jordan Keaney is a series of hand-formed bowls, in Brass, Copper and Aluminium. After a ‘blank canvas’ bowl form is spun on the lathe, Keaney hammers the bowls to shape, as he calls it ‘heating and beating’, placing each bowl under the flame of a blowtorch between hammering sessions. With each bowl being a different material and thickness, the result of each blow to the bowls has a different impact on the various materials. The soft composition of the thinner aluminium results in a cloud-like state and the thicker copper with a greater fluidity results in a more undulating form.

The inspiration behind Momento was the want to preserve key moments in the designer’s past, and that the material of the bowls, after being formed, hold the memory of every impact that got them to where they are, not dissimilar to Keaney’s journey. Every swing of the hammer used to form these pieces can be seen in each unique shape. The colour of each bowl derives from visual highlights at milestone points in Keaneys design journey, a firehouse he lived across from, a tea he would prepare every morning, key moments, forever preserved in these functional sculptures.

About Jordan Keaney Design Visit Showroom →

Jordan Keaney is a dynamic furniture and homeware designer based in London, celebrated for pushing the boundaries of materiality and design. From his East London studio, Keaney experiments with striking textures, bold colours, and unexpected finishes to create pieces that blur the line between art and function. His work champions the idea that furniture should not only serve a purpose but also make a statement, transforming into sculptural art when not in use. Driven by themes of texture, juxtaposition, and inclusivity, Keaney’s designs invite curiosity and interaction. He rebels against the traditional notion of 'Please do not touch the art,' instead encouraging tactile exploration as a vital part of experiencing his work. By pairing contrasting materials and finishes, he creates pieces that celebrate diversity—both in form and audience—making his collections as inclusive as they are visually compelling. Keaney carefully balances the form of a design with how animated its surface is. When working with bold, exciting textures, he often applies them to simple, geometric shapes such as cubes. This approach allows the surface to take center stage without overwhelming the overall design, resulting in pieces that feel both grounded and expressive. Keaney’s ethos centers on design as a multi-sensory experience, offering an open invitation to engage with his creations and embrace the beauty of texture and touch. Through his work, he hopes to foster deeper connections between people and the objects that surround them.
