This is one of a kind stoneware sculptural piece from the artist’s collection “The Rock and Wind”.
The sculpture was made immitating 3D printing technique, built using hand-manual tools, finished with transparent glaze.

Fired in electrical kiln, 1250°C.

Monika Gedrimaite (b. 1990) is ceramics artist based in Vilnius. Artist explores the dialectic between the vessel as material and conceptual formation. Gedrimaitė is interested in utilitarian foundation of a vessel and new possibilities of use. By universalizing the meaning of a vessel, ceramicist reduces recognition of an object until only a trace remains. Using the technical methods of creating and deconstructing ceramics, Gedrimaitė presents the objects of an imaginary function, which are not necessarily related to the original purpose, giving them a new concept of a vessel.
