The feature that distinguishes the “Espresso Cup Seljuk” from other coffee cups is the geometry of their handles. Their source of inspiration is the rich ornamental designs in Anatolian Seljuk madrasahs.

This era is one of designer Hülya Öz’s favorites to explore and examine the geometric compositions. These compositions attract Öz so strongly, she feels that these patterns hold the codes of the universe and she would love to understand them more deeply. As a coffee lover, Öz prefers to see the color effect of what drink is in the cup. Therefore, her preference is off-white. In Turkish traditions, drinking coffee is a habit shared by two people – this is why these designs are sold in sets of two.

Gökmedrese (13th-century), an educational institution named for the sky-blue tiles. Of all Seljukid work in Anatolia, it is the one that Hülya Öz is most impressed by. Also, known as Sahibiye, referring to Sahip Ata, located in Sivas (central Anatolia).
