Description

“Anhelo” is inspired by the late 1960s in Mexico, when the local arts scene found inspiration in North American and European art in its search for a unique graphic language that would both secure Mexico’s place in the world of global aesthetics as well as renovate the most traditional forms of Mexican art, with references to vernacular art and indigenous art.

Art, as an agent of change, led to an alliance between architects, designers, and artists responsible for a series of ambitious programs and projects from different stylistic and ideological art currents. There were those who sought to construct an image of the country for the rest of the world, others were concerned with showing the reality beneath this international image.

“Anhelo” finds inspiration in this epoch’s desires and hopes as part of our never-ending search for a unique language for our trade, textile design, one rooted in the history of our country of origin and the connections and inspirations we can find when far from her.
