sculptural glass vase with wooden texture, volume IV
This collection of glass vessels represents movement in time, the simultaneity of the past and the future.
The making process is a captivating synergy of elements — the tiniest details of a momentary structure of burning wood are captured with molten hot glass, continuously changing shape.
The wooden mould changes continuously during the glass blowing process and eventually burns down. Thus, each mould makes a limited edition of unique pieces. A sequence number is assigned to each piece, and due to the design and the technique, each object is one of a kind, and its shape, texture, dimensions, and weight differ, as if it would be grown from the earth. Moulds for glassblowing are made out of up-cycled local timber consciously selected by the designer to achieve a variety of structures.
