About and Contact ninetyoneninetytwo is a Copenhagen-based sustainable 3D printing studio dedicated to designing, developing, and producing everyday objects and furniture from recycled plastic. Our mission is to integrate 3D printing into daily life while championing sustainability. By leveraging 3D printing technology, we localize production, minimize material waste, and reduce energy consumption. Our materials—EU-sourced rPET and rPETG—are derived from recycled plastics like drinking bottles and packaging, ensuring durability and ecological responsibility. Design At ninetyoneninetytwo, we believe design must serve a conscious purpose. For us, the future of design lies in 3D printing and the innovative reuse of existing materials. From day one, we’ve committed to working exclusively with recycled resources. Our products feature distinctive yet functional designs, carefully optimized to eliminate the need for support materials, further reducing waste. Material Every product we create uses 100% recycled materials. Our filaments are crafted from recycled plastic through extrusion, ensuring a closed-loop lifecycle for this ubiquitous material. Recycled plastics like PET and PETG retain the lightweight durability of their original forms, making them perfect for creating resilient products with minimal environmental impact. The recycling process is energy-efficient, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. 3D Printing Our products are crafted using recycled plastic filaments sourced from the EU. Plastic waste is a global challenge, and by localizing production through 3D printing and recycled filament manufacturing, we can ensure sustainable, decentralized production. Shared 3D printing files allow our products to be printed anywhere, minimizing transport emissions and encouraging regional manufacturing. Reduced Waste We aim to eliminate production waste by designing forms that require no support materials during 3D printing. This approach avoids the unnecessary material waste often inherent in traditional additive manufacturing. No Surface Finishing After Printing To further minimize waste and pollution, we avoid traditional post-print surface finishing processes like sanding, painting, and vapor smoothing. Instead, we achieve the desired surface quality through thoughtful design and precise optimization of printing parameters. Mono-Material Design Each of our products is designed with a mono-material approach to simplify recycling and reuse. For example, the Soft Is Stool features custom-made screws that seamlessly connect the seat and legs without additional tools or adhesives. Similarly, the 70s Floor Lamp is hand-welded using recycled filaments instead of glue, ensuring material purity. By eliminating mixed materials, we make future upcycling easier and more efficient. Circular Economy In line with circular economy principles, we recover and regenerate materials to create new products. Our rPET and rPETG filaments give plastic waste a second life, transforming it into furniture and home accessories. By designing with a single material, we reduce challenges associated with composite plastics, which often hinder recycling processes. This approach ensures that our products contribute to a closed-loop system, fostering a sustainable future for design.
