The LXV Wall Shelf by Aaron Scott can be used as an accent piece, a small console or sculptural shelf. The piece mounts to the wall via a hidden cleat (included).
In my capacity as a designer I’ve recently become interested in objects made during the period of Louis XV. Furniture of this era made a clean break from the imposing and rigid designs of Louis XIV by placing emphasis instead on lightness, comfort and sensuality – and thus bringing the body into a more intimate relationship with the furniture object. In my own work I have used strategies like rotational-symmetry, non-Euclidean geometry and complex curvature to draw the spectator’s body into the object’s geomorphic logic, and certain motifs present in the furniture of the Louis XV period already find some degree of expression in my work; the LXV series represents a further exploration of these formal and conceptual relationships.
