Part of my ongoing Floral Studies series, this piece explores the tulip as a sculptural form. Handbuilt from black stoneware, the vase has an intentionally organic, imperfect shape, making every work in the series truly one of a kind.
The exterior is left unglazed and carefully hand-polished to a soft satin shimmer, achieved through a long, meditative process of refining the clay surface during its making. The interior is coated with a transparent glaze, creating a glossy contrast with the matte body.
The piece functions as a vase while maintaining a strong sculptural presence. It invites quiet attention, standing equally well on its own or in dialogue with flowers.
Handbuilt from black stoneware. Unglazed, hand-polished exterior with subtle glazed accents; transparent glaze inside. Fired at 1250°C. Waterproof and suitable for fresh flowers.
