    In Studio Kloak’s commitment to reducing waste, all woodshop scraps are collected, processed, and inoculated with mycelium—a network of thread-like fungal filaments that form the vegetative body of fungi. Completely biodegradable, mycelium not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also offers a visionary approach to repurposing waste. This material has been skillfully transformed into table tops, symbolizing the harmonious relationship between nature and design. The table bases, provide a striking contrast to the organic texture of the mycelium tops, creating a captivating interplay of materials. Mycelium, a carbon-negative material, naturally decomposes, reinforcing the collection’s commitment to eco-conscious design and sustainable innovation.

    Studio Kloak is a sustainable, zero-waste design studio focusing on lighting and functional objects. Part design studio, part incubator, the studio prides itself on creating a safe environment rooted in education and experimentation. All objects are handmade, using innovative building and material methods, from biomaterials to the collection of abandoned buildings. Every design reduces global waste and reimagines materiality into a collectible design. Imperfect, sculptural, and bespoke, we re-contextualize sculpture through the prism of utility.Studio Kloak was founded by award-winning designer and educator, CoCo Ree Lemery. CoCo spent years leading design and development for major brands throughout the United States. In 2022, CoCo left her role as a Design Director to teach full-time and open her maker’s space. With a passion for design and sustainability, her research focuses on methods of material deconstruction using AI to maximize the reuse of materials and minimize environmental impact. Today, this research is used in designing products for large global brands while Studio Kloak continues to experiment with recycled and biomaterials using a hands-on approach. All objects here are designed and crafted by CoCo alongside a few daring and remarkable craftswomen.
