The Providence Project centralizes under-represented models of production and undervalued resources. Made entirely from salvaged materials harvested from the Providence area, each piece emerges directly from the artist’s surroundings, creating a portrait of Providence as furniture. Materials are collected and harmoniously welded together to uncover a less extractive approach to design. In foraging for materials, the artist seeks non-exploitative design solutions that foreground local communities and reduce environmental harm. The hand-painted monochrome finish provides a polished veil for the scrap steel beneath. At once raw and elegant, The Providence Project embodies the city from which it was forged.
