Description

Lowboard VAREL is a uniquely sensual design piece with an extraordinary history. The monolithic corpus is formed by a 100-year-old oak plank, whose wavy surface texture and mystical moor colouring tell of its long life on the high moors. Sea air painted steel pyramids rhythm the front of the atmospheric room designer. Its interior conceals a spacious drawer made of honey-warm oak. Lowboard VAREL embodies the artistic desire to give new significance, contemporary design and meaningful use to the soulfully decayed.
The origin, materiality and aesthetics of a 4-metre-long oak plank from a historic high moorland jetty give the idea for LOWBOARD VAREL. Seamlessly crafted from this original wooden plank, the body retains its organic beauty and the hand-forged nails. Original post caps made of raw steel shape the front of the tip-on drawer made of fine oak veneer as well as finger-joints. The plank is manually brushed and colourlessly oiled, the steel front clearly lacquered. VAREL should be attached to the wall at the back.

About Heilig Objects Visit Showroom →

Daniel Heilig, born in Budapest in 1985, is a self-taught artist, photographer, musician and designer with a current studio workshop in Darmstadt, Germany. The visionary free spirit's way of thinking, creative urge and creative power are unlimited. Design is in him. Everything inspires him. The beauty of the moment, iconographic characters and architecture, coincidence. Everything fertilizes each other. Daniel Heilig is not interested in what design is allowed to do. He believes in good design. It fills living spaces with aesthetics, atmosphere and a unique story. It is an expression of individuality and created for generations. The young non-conformist misses these qualities in German furniture design. He fills this vacuum with an authentic design language and touchingly warm, elegant and harmonious designs, unique pieces of furniture and collectible design pieces between design and art.
