Description

FAT LEG 65 has the radiance and warmth of a sun god. Powerful like a Redwood tree, maximally minimalist and magically beautiful, the bold dining table sculpture casts a spell over people. Grasping the 65 mm thick, solid oak tabletop with your hands gives a feeling of grounding. The generous roundness of the table geometry and its 3 centrally arranged column legs provide space for 6 chairs and legroom. FAT LEG 65 is a spectacular centrepiece in design-savvy private and meeting rooms, hotel suites and restaurants.
The idea for FAT LEG 65 comes from solving a problem. The surprisingly severe deformation of a 65 mm thick oak panel makes it impossible to clamp it on the lathe. The salvation is a 120 mm radius, which is milled by hand out of the board and levelled manually by router. The concept of large radii is followed by the rounded lower and upper sides of the 3 table legs, which are elaborately turned on the lathe. Legs and plate are invisibly screwed together by an intelligent inlet technique. Manual oiling gives the dining table its silky feel.

About Heilig Objects Visit Showroom →

Daniel Heilig, born in Budapest in 1985, is a self-taught artist, photographer, musician and designer with a current studio workshop in Darmstadt, Germany. The visionary free spirit's way of thinking, creative urge and creative power are unlimited. Design is in him. Everything inspires him. The beauty of the moment, iconographic characters and architecture, coincidence. Everything fertilizes each other. Daniel Heilig is not interested in what design is allowed to do. He believes in good design. It fills living spaces with aesthetics, atmosphere and a unique story. It is an expression of individuality and created for generations. The young non-conformist misses these qualities in German furniture design. He fills this vacuum with an authentic design language and touchingly warm, elegant and harmonious designs, unique pieces of furniture and collectible design pieces between design and art.
