Description

Theodora Alfredsdottir’s “Wall Jesmonite Relief” is a captivating exploration of form and materiality that transcends conventional design boundaries. Crafted from jesmonite, a versatile and visually intriguing material, this geometric wall relief represents a harmonious convergence of art and function.

Designed with a keyhole feature on the back, this piece is ready to adorn any wall with grace and simplicity. Its geometric shapes and thoughtful construction offer both aesthetic delight and tactile fascination, making it a striking addition to any interior.

This work is not confined to a singular expression. It presents itself in three distinct versions, each with its own artistic identity, and is available in a range of four carefully selected colors. This diversity allows individuals to choose a piece that resonates with their unique sensibilities and complements their interior space.

Theodora Alfredsdottir, an accomplished Icelandic product designer currently based in London, brings her passion for design and her extensive training to this creation. Her academic journey includes a bachelor’s degree in product design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and a master’s degree in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London.

Alfredsdottir’s work is deeply rooted in storytelling through design. She explores the narratives embedded within objects, focusing on the intricate relationship between the manufacturing process, craftsmanship, materials, and the resulting form. Her approach uncovers unexpected qualities in objects and encourages a profound reconsideration of our material world and the value it holds.

“The Wall Jesmonite Relief” invites us to engage with the narratives concealed within its design. It serves as a testament to the enduring interplay between form and storytelling in contemporary design, urging us to reflect on the profound significance of the objects that shape our surroundings.

About Theodóra Alfreðsdóttir Visit Showroom →

Theodora is an Icelandic product designer based in London. She holds a bachelor’s degree in product design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and a master’s degree in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London in 2015. Theodora’s work revolves around the narrative an object can inhabit and exploring ways of objectifying that narrative. She's interested in the way an object can act as documentation of it’s manufacturing process; a record of what went on between the machine, tools, craftsman and material as well as it can communicate it’s origin and former life. That often leads to discovery of unexpected qualities as well as it gives the user a subtle opportunity to reconsider our material world and explore value in a different way.
