A mycelium stool by Olle Sahlqvist, inspired by the dome, a network of mycelium hyphae connecting the wooden fibers into a stable form.
This furniture explores how fungi shape sustainable design by growing furniture from a blend of spores, wood shavings, flour, water, and time. The mycelium network binds these elements into light yet robust forms that are as much grown as they are designed. Inspired by biomimicry, the design follows the soft geometries and inner logic of the fungus. The Spore Stool sequester CO₂ during growth and return nutrients to the soil at the end of their life. A circular, low-tech design that transforms byproducts into furniture for learning, reflection, and ecological engagement.
