Description

One Thing Led To Another is a handcrafted sculpture born from an exploration of the coexistence between inert matter and organic forms. Its structure evokes a frozen mineral landscape, a rocky surface with irregular contours and neutral tones, upon which orange spores gradually spread and colonize their support.
The whole forms a hybrid object where the living and the inorganic do not oppose but coexist, creating a delicate balance that recalls natural processes of regeneration. The warm-colored outcrops contrast with the coolness of the grey base, suggesting a presence that slowly expands, settles in, and transforms its environment.
Inspired by the universe of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, this piece evokes the resilient ecosystems that emerge in seemingly hostile environments. It questions our relationship with nature and its ability to reclaim spaces, even the most barren ones, without dramatizing this process, but rather observing it as an ongoing reality.
The shape of the chair, intentionally unstable and sculptural, invites us to reconsider the functional object as a narrative support. It exists as much as a seat as it does as a sculpture, carrying within it a story of transformation and persistence.
This chair is made of a wooden and metal structure reinforced with resin. The finish was handcrafted with acrylic paint and coated with a protective varnish.

This chair is fully functional.

About Vincent Decat Visit Showroom →

"My pieces are intended to be companions rather than possessions. I give my objects organic, animated qualities, hoping that people will grow attached to them the way they would to a pet." Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist and designer. Graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven, he creates collectible design pieces that integrate sculptural thinking into everyday use. His work is characterized by forms that suggest life and movement, pieces that seem to breathe or shift. These animal-like qualities transform functional objects into personal and engaging pieces. By creating pieces that feel almost alive, he encourages a relationship of care more than consumption. They become companions that people want to preserve and cherish over time.
