Description

Idleness, User Manual – Neckroll Purple, 2023

the state of idleness,
‘when the attention, which is usually directed towards my surroundings, suddenly flips to the inside, i’m in a world in which time does not exist as a parameter. a daydream commences, sometimes leading to a trance-like state’.

during idleness, the importance lies in that which happens inside the heads. this is invisible. what is visible are the imprints of static body positions such as the traces of elbows in a pillow of a window bench that won’t fade.

plaster, pigments, scagliola, wooden frame

About Laura Dominici Visit Showroom →

Laura Dominici designs a slow world as an alternative approach to life. In her work she deals with inefficiency and imagination. For her one-of-a-kind pieces she uses techniques that are rarely used due to their time-consuming nature. Utopian objects are created that aim to be an impulse for one’s own imagination. Laura Dominici (b. 1993) is an Austrian object designer based in Vienna. She developed her practice while studying at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Stefan Diez and Fiona Raby and at Tsinghua University in Beijing. She holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design (2021) and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture (2022). She was one of the finalists of the Design Parade Hyères 2022. Her work has been previously exhibited at Villa Noailles, MAKK Museum Cologne, MAK Museum Vienna, Dutch Design Week and London Design Festival.
