The Hex Shelf is a hexagonal tower with four levels of shelving.
This piece arises from Tijs Guilty’s ongoing research into form and material, where he explores the dynamic interplay between straight and wavy contours, emphasizing both the striking contrast and the connection between them.
It could be used for displaying items like fine liquors, treasured books, or decorative objects.
However, its impressive stature and sculptural form also allow it to be a stand alone piece in any space.
The base frame is crafted from black matte-coated steel. Each side is adorned with sanded aluminum plates, each uniquely cut in a wavy pattern.
A custom script was used to generate over 400 distinct plates, ensuring no two are alike.
The shelves themselves are made from 4mm thick sanded aluminum and can be easily removed if needed.
