The habitants of this city went in search of the land promised by the gods, giving rise to what is known as the “road of Aztlán.” According to popular stories, the Aztecs had to leave this city to make a pilgrimage to the land promised by the god Huitzilopochtli, deity of war and the sun, until they found “the sign”, an eagle devouring a snake perched on a cactus that gave them would indicate where to found Tenochtitlan.
