In his capacity as a designer Aaron Scott recently become interested in objects made during the period of Louis XV. Furniture of this era made a clean break from the imposing and rigid designs of Louis XIV by placing emphasis instead on lightness, comfort and sensuality – and thus bringing the body into a more intimate relationship with the furniture object. In his own work Scott has used strategies like rotational-symmetry, non-Euclidean geometry and complex curvature to draw the spectator’s body into the object’s geomorphic logic, and certain motifs present in the furniture of the Louis XV period already find some degree of expression in his work; the LXV series represents a further exploration of these formal and conceptual relationships.
The LXV Console in bleached cherry mounts to the wall via a hidden cleat, and features two drawers with a bright blue painted finish.
