Description

“Withdrawal-Can-Be” chair is inspired by the artistic form of classical Chinese furniture and modern Chinese red-letter slogans. It is covered in cotton fabric (white) or fine silk (other color options), hand-embroidered with text and a peach tree diagram.

The embroidery is done by highly experienced craftspeople in Suzhou, China. The chair is made by experienced professionals at Duyi Han’s collaborative workshop in Shanghai.

Cover: silk (or cotton), removable, for light use
Upholstery: foam. Inner cover in linen, non-removable.
Seat height: 47cm

About the designer


Duyi Han (1994) is an artist, designer, and creative director specializing in avant-garde aesthetic research and design. He creates environments and objects as emotion-based perceptual experiences that engage with the depth and beauty of diverse temporal and cultural contexts. His past work includes visual art, 3D videos, furniture, interiors, architecture, and exhibition design. His work has been recognized by multidisciplinary awards and major media platforms in more than 20 languages. Duyi Han works between Shanghai, Europe, and the US. He holds a B. Arch from Cornell University (New York) and has worked at Herzog & de Meuron (Basel, CH).
