Description

Vessel is a celebration of motherhood. The vase is roughly carved with a chainsaw on the outside. It is chiseled and sanded by hand on the inside. The vessel derives from the ability of mothers to carry the duality of strength and softness. While having to hold their ground and protect, mothers also carry a soft and loving part.
Made in collaboration with Antoine D’Auvergne.

About Masha Volkova Visit Showroom →

Masha Volkova (b. 2000, Moscow) is an object artist. She creates sculpture-like furnitures and furniture-like sculptures in which she decodes the personality of objects. Her works are characters with wooden skeletons. These characters transmit through explicit shapes and textures. Layered structures and loaded facades attract curiosity and invite to take a closer look at often-overlooked objects. Her practice is an ongoing investigation around the dynamics of objecti- fication, inviting us to consider not only the functions of everyday objects but also their ethics and mean- ings. A couch rears up and a cabinet falls in love. An object is alive and it has stories to tell. Listen with your eyes.
