This low storage bench by LAYLO, designed by Chicago-based Sam and Lydia Link, reflects the unseen aspects of urban architecture. Mimicking the form of HVAC systems in alleys, it challenges perceptions with its sculptural, functional, and mechanical elements. Made of profiled cast bronze and dovetailed walnut drawers within a curved steel case, it’s crafted through precise laser-cutting, rolling, welding, machining, hand-painting, and buffing, resulting in a colorful and varied surface.
