Description

The work of Samuel Aguirre challenges the environmental benefits of the centuries-old craft of paper-making. Over the past years, Aguirre has engaged deeply with ancient techniques and natural fibers, using them not only as structural elements but also as a canvas for surface experimentation.

Each lamp begins with raw plant-based pulp, which is formed into a familiar lighting assembly and air-dried slowly. This gradual drying process encourages organic deformations, giving each piece its own gestural silhouette. Once cured, the surface becomes a field for layered finishes using archival, biodegradable materials—premium handmade papers, true milk paints, textured coatings, and metal leaf—resulting in a richly tactile, light-responsive form.

Every lamp is entirely handmade, with no two alike. Designed for indoor use, they are built to last, yet fully compostable or recyclable at the end of life. The approach balances permanence with ecological responsibility, proposing a new model for collectible, sustainable lighting.

This collection was launched at WANTED DESIGN 2025. Due to the organic nature of the fabrication process every piece is unique and one of a kind.
Please expect variation in form and composition.
