Nuva is a matcha tea cup composed of a sculptural shell that gently holds a glass vessel within. Its form follows the natural gesture of drinking—how hands seek warmth and familiarity. Inspired by smooth black stones from the Oregon Coast, the shape is soft and balanced, with an integrated foot for stability.
Born from naive sketches and shaped through digital craft, each piece carries small imperfections that speak to process and presence. The glass rests freely inside, not fixed—inviting the user to slow down, to hold with intention, and to remain present in the moment.
It began with a series of naive, intuitive drawings, and slowly evolved into a tactile object inspired by organic forms found in nature. Though the shape is expressive and sculptural, it remains fully functional, with a grounded foot that offers both balance and comfort in the hand. This piece continues my exploration of material combinations, sensorial experiences, and quiet objects that ask to be held with care and attention.
This object is made of two parts: a glass cup and a sculptural 3D printed shell. The glass is not fixed inside the shell and must be handled with care to avoid spills. It invites you to slow down and be fully present—just like in a tea ceremony.
Care Instructions:
The glass cup is dishwasher safe.
The shell is not dishwasher safe and should be wiped
clean with a soft, damp cloth.
