Description

The Noura Bed by Sun at Six is a platform bed designed around curved geometry to bring functionality and calmness to the bedroom. The curved detailing extends from the headboard and footboard to each of the platforms, and protects from bumping ankles when the lights are off. The side platforms can fit phones and small objects, and the headboard is designed for perfect pillow-assisted resting.

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we’ve developed the Noura bed using solid pressed moso bamboo. Specifically, we’ve used a technique that presses highly sustainable moso bamboo into dense wood timber, which is then used similarly to conventional wooden furniture planks. The Noura bed features the beautiful condensed graining pattern of the pressed moso bamboo combined with the rich finish of our house made tenna oil.

Sun at Six is a furniture design studio focused on exploring the role that physical spaces play in our everyday choices and how we interact with others. A space - room, house, balcony, meadow, mountainside, clifftop - is an emotionally evocative entity, capable of arousing and shaping moods, actions, and feelings. From the moment you step foot within it, a space can influence your relationship with yourself and others. Furniture, and how it’s arranged, facilitates this: a deep sofa encourages you to sink back, relax in conversation, and unwind. A shallow, upright chair facilitates sharpness and focus. We seek to actualize furniture that, in conjunction with the space you design, evoke feelings that nourish the relationships that matter to you. We are a family run studio and factory with a commitment to maintaining classical Chinese joinery, a system which uses intricate, interwoven joints to create solid hardwood furniture without the use of any nails or screws. By applying it to contemporary forms, we hope to preserve this fading traditional art form.
