Maratus gets its name from a spider that disguises as a peacock to attract or scare away, with its several eyes and an extravagant crest hypnotizing its prey.

Cast bronce pieces, 12 horsehair tassels and turned brass fittings and rayon sheathed electric cord.

Isabel Moncada is a Mexican designer who specializes in the design of lighting fixtures made in her own workshop in Mexico. For more than 30 years she has explored and implemented ancient techniques of artisan manufacturing, developing different crafts, inventing mechanisms and transforming materials to improve the performance, quality and design of her pieces. She began to venture into the art world in the 1990s. While working for some established sculptors in Guadalajara, she set up her own studio at home and began to approach design with an artistic style that evolved into engineering, mechanics and 3D modeling.
